Super strong monophasic stimulus

Thanks to 2400V capacitor, which is 60% more powerful then our previous generation capacitor, Neuro-MS fires more powerful monophasic stimulus. This leads to good EMG response at low intensities.

Extremely low interference

Neuro-MS is built to be used in diagnostics and research. While TMS can induce a strong electrical field, this device has a very low interference even during charge and discharge. And for complete silence we have delayed charge mode, when machine starts charging the capacitor only after preset delay. Thus, you can use it during EEG or ERP recordings. The magnetic stimulator can operate with EMG recorders of most manufacturers (through TTL/CMOS synchronization connectors) however maximum diagnostic capabilities can be achieved if the device is used together with neurophysiological digital system manufactured by Neurosoft.
Neuro-MEP.NETomega software supplied with Neurosoft neurophysiologic systems like Skybox for example has a built in templates for wide range of TMS tests:

  • Motor evoked potentials (MEP)
  • Central motor conduction time (CMCT)
  • Silent period (SP)
  • Intehemisperic inhibition (IHI or ipsilateral SP)
  • Triple stimulation test (TST)
  • Low and high-frequency rTMS
  • Stimulation of phrenic nerve for study of diaphragm response

Big color screen and easy click wheel to control parameters

All stimulation parameters are displayed at bright and sharp color built-in screen. Easy click wheel helps to set the intensity, frequency and other parameters in a matter of seconds. Neuro-MS comes with a whole new set of coils that have additional controls. Right on a coil you can increase of decrease the intensity of a stimulation and make a stimulus.

Two configurations: single pulse and paired pulse (two units tower)

Magnetic stimulator come in two configurations: for single pulse stimulation and for paired pulse stimulation (ppTMS). Paired-pulse transcranial magnetic stimulation has been shown to be a useful tool for examining the excitability of inhibitory and excitatory interactions in human motor cortex.

Connection to computer via USB port

Neuro-MS, as our other TMS systems, can be used together with neurophysiological systems made by Neurosoft. Just connect the magnetic stimulator to the computer with installed EMG or EEG software via USB port. No additional sync cables needed. Neurosoft produces both professional EMG/NCS and TMS machines. It means that integration between TMS and EMG can be done at very deep level. EMG software can completely control all parameters of magnetic stimulator.

The magnetic stimulator can be successfully used to make rehabilitation prognosis for stroke patients. At that the following parameters are studied:

  • Amplitude of motor evoked potential (MEP) recorded at cortex stimulation is characterized by the number of undamaged motoneurons in cortex structures.The magnetic stimulator can be successfully used to make rehabilitation prognosis for stroke patients. At that the following parameters are studied:
  • Central motor conduction time (conduction time from cortex to cervical part) reveals the integrity of motor pathways.
  • Amplitude ratio (motor evoked potential/M-wave) is used to assess the excitability of motor cortex.
  • Motor evoked potential facilitation is used when the response is not obtained without facilitation. The obtained response at facilitation and missed one without facilitation can evidence high level of motoneurons and (or) pathways injury. At that the integrity of the given structures is still obvious.

All parameters are recorded separately from right and left sides.

In 2011, I purchased the first Evidence 3102* from Schreiber&Tholen**, Germany, for my research lab dealing with disease models of peripheral neuropathies, myasthenic syndromes, and of myelopathies in mice and rats. The run-in period was very short because the programs are user-friendly, dependable and adaptable to the special needs in small rodents, the youngest being 8 days old. No EMG machine I ever used before was as powerful as this one. On numerous trips to collaborating labs in the US, Germany and Switzerland I carried this equipment with me. Meanwhile 6 completely established sets are working in most of these collaborating labs. There was no failure ever of the Neurosoft hardware, and in case of minor software problems Schreiber&Tholen provided swift and concise help through the Internet around the globe if needed — again with no precedence in my career in clinical electrophysiology. Even in lab facilities without perfect electromagnetic shielding little if any problems occurred. I highly recommend this equipment to anyone interested in doing clinical neurophysiology in animal models of neurologic disorders
